Biography
Raghad AlAli is an architect, designer
and glass artist, drawing inspiration from structures of nature through material research and digital fabrication. She founded her glass studio, Whymsicals, a research space and fabrication lab that pushes the boundaries of the material through technical and conceptual experimentation in the spatial scale of architecture, art and design.
In 2023 Raghad was appointed as the Materials Programme Coordinator at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial Foundation. In 2022, she was awarded the Architecture of Culture fellowship by the American University of Sharjah and commissioned by Irthi Crafts council, exhibiting her work at the 2023 Milano Salone del Mobile.
In 2021, she participated in La Biennale di Architettura di Venezia as the UAE’s pavilion exhibition coordinator in the exhibition Wetlands.
Raghad’s work has been exhibited in Dubai Design Week (‘21,’22,’23) and shortlisted for awards like the RIBA president’s medal and published in magazines like IDentity and MGF Milano. In 2016, Raghad cofounded MRM, a collaborative group of interdisciplinary designers who explore crossovers between craft and technology, their work has been commissioned and exhibited in multiple exhibitions like Art Dubai and Amman Design Week (‘19) and Sikka (‘19,’22)
